NASA/NC Space Grant: NC Space Education Ambassadors Program now accepting applications for Cohort 3 – Application Deadline Extended to July 15
NC Space Grant (NCSG) invites your education community to apply for the NC Space Education Ambassadors Program (NCSEA). Now in its third year, the NCSEA program is building a statewide network of master teachers who deliver NASA educational content to their students, colleagues and communities. Since 2020, we have trained 28 educators from 20 NC counties across the state. Our NCSEA have led 26 activities (beyond the classrooms) to include presentations at professional conferences and outreach to community groups, serving 400 teachers and over 1,000 students!
In-service public and private school teachers with three years or more experience can apply for this opportunity by July 15. 2022 on the NCSEA program page.

On July 12, at 10:30 a.m. EDT, scientists from NASA and its partners will unveil the first full-color images from the most powerful space telescope ever built. Since its successful launch on Dec. 25, 2021, the James Webb Space Telescope has been traveling to its observation point and calibrating its instruments. Amplifying Statistics and Data Science in Classrooms
Our world is rich with data sources, and today’s media is flooded with graphs and data that require data literate citizens. Technology makes data more accessible than ever before, and statistics and data science skills can help students be ready for data-intensive STEM careers.
Amplifying Statistics and Data Science in Classrooms is a new set of FREE online modules that help educators in grades 6-12:
● Develop strategies for using an investigation cycle to teach statistics and data science
● Ignite students’ interest in real world data investigations with technology
● Emphasize inferential reasoning through posing different types of investigative questions
● Earn certificates for up to 40 hrs to apply to CEUs.
Activities and strategies can help you meet the NC statistics standards in grades 6-8, Math 1, 2, 3, AP Statistics, and the new Math 4 course!
Through the Community Grant Program, individual Walmart stores, Sam’s Clubs, and logistics facilities can support the needs of their communities by providing grants to local organizations. These grants are designed to address the unique needs of the communities where Walmart operates. Organization’s goals must align with at least one of the following areas: community and economic development; diversity and inclusion; education; environmental sustainability; health and human service; hunger relief and healthy eating; public safety; and quality of life.
Eligible applicants are nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations; recognized government entities; kindergarten through grade 12 public, private, or charter schools; community or junior colleges; state or private universities; and churches or faith-based organizations. Applications must be submitted online.
