eCYBERMISSION is a free, virtual STEM competition for 6-9 graders, administered by the National Science Teaching Association. Students form teams of 2-4, led by an adult Team Advisor, and select a problem in their community to investigate with science or solve with engineering. eCYBERMISSION aligns with NGSS, CC, and state science standards and teaching resources are available for free at www.ecybermission.com/AdvisorHelpCenter. Plus, apply to receive funding for your classroom at www.ecybermission.com/MiniGrantProgram.
Team Advisor Registration
Team Advisors should register before their students, so even if you’re unsure of your student numbers, you can complete your registration now.
Student Registration
After you complete Team Advisor Registration, instruct your students to complete their registration. Don’t worry about teams yet, as that is completed once each individual student is registered.
Place Students on Teams
Once students are registered, Team Advisors can create teams and place their students on them. Students can then begin working on their Mission Folder!
Now – Team Advisor, student, and team registration is open
February 28, 2024 – Team Advisor, student, and team registration closes
March 6, 2024 – Mission Folders are due
May 3, 2024 – State Winners, Regional Finalists, and National Finalists announced
Please note all completion dates are final and cannot be adjusted.

Leap into Science Programming & Reporting |
As you may already be aware, the current Leap into Science grant from the National Science Foundation is coming to a close in September 2023.This does not mean, however, that programming must end! You can use the ideas below to continue offering Leap into Science programs. |
Continue leading workshops for children and families in your communities by using the resources above. Learn about a new curriculum or share these resources with a colleague to spread the knowledge! |
Promote your workshops to a wider audience through Science Near Me, an NSF-funded digital resource with the goal of helping anyone – anywhere in the U.S. – participate in STEM! If you have questions about how to add events, reach out to [email protected]. |
Note: The Workshop Report will remain open until September 2023. Please continue reporting on workshops until that time. |
If you have any questions about Leap into Science, please reach out to your state leader or you can email Tara Cox on the project leadership team at [email protected]. |
Thank you for being a part of the Leap into Science National Network! |
